How Indigo Airlines gets me!

Indigo Airlines- The youngest and fastest growing Indian airline company does it right! I always take Indigo to fly back to my hometown Chandigarh and the two hour flight is like two hours of un-explainable joy for me!

This is because of their branding, its just perfect. The indigo color, the beautiful font, edgy illustrations and the MASTERPIECE - The Logo!- its just fantastic. So when I was flying with Indigo back in November, I took out my A4 executive bond papers and started doodling! This is how it went -

He-She and the Flying Submarine!

Flight attendants and the pilot wear really cool outfits.
( I just love their edgy posture! )

I ate an in-flight sandwich named the Yellow Submarine.
Apparently the submarine always wanted to fly.
It took an aviation course and now it flies with Indigo Airlines!

This is how the box of their sandwich looks like.
You can have a better idea of the font in this picture.

This  is how the in-flight food selection section looks like.
Pretty cool right!

So while I am here, lemme post something that I am currently working on. I'll give you a hint- It has a skeptic husband, a cheating wife and a wise she parrot- Enjoy!

Yes! This is the 1st time I'm putting up my digital work!

Everybody on this planet has a story to tell! - The Story Book

A friend  of mine once told me that he can do anything with his life and still remain a storyteller. To which my reply was 'Aren't we all?' . We all are storytellers, aren't we? We all have the story of our lives to be told. We all have our different stories. And that is what makes us different and yet, we all are the  same storytellers!
So that brings me back to my storytelling!

Sketch of Kirtimukha from Ajanta's cave no. 2
I've been dying to post a lot of stuff on my blog  from so long. So this post is dedicated to all that. This is a compilation of a lot of stuff. hope you enjoy it.

Oh well, the topmost sketch has an amazing story. The sketch is of a demon from Hindu mythology called Kirtimukha. Lord Shiva was to marry Parvati, daughter of the king of Himalayas. Jalandharaconqueror of all worlds made fun of this. He said that the princess of Himalayas deserves a king like Jalandhra than a beggar like lord Shiva. Lord Shiva got very angry when Rahu delivered this message to him. Lord Shiva's third eye opened and gave birth to a ferocious demon. This demon was lord Shiva's wrath that wanted to consume Rahu. Rahu begged for his life. Lord Shiva stopped the demon but the demon was hungry and begged for food from lord Shiva. Figuring out the uselessness of the daemon now, lord Shiva asked the daemon to eat himself. When the daemon was was left with his head alone, lord Shiva gave him the title Kirtimukha- the face of glory. Kirtimukha was now immortal and now adorns the top of the enterance every single Hindu temple.

Coming back to the blog! -

random sketches of body dynamics. I dint really want it to be the usual anatomy, so I made the characters a little edgy, almost a wire-frame.
This one has a grown up and a baby penguin and two
polar bears. The little rectangle there has a rough sketch
of my layouts.

This picture and the two that follow are some rough
sketches for my college assignment. We were asked
to design a poster on any issue concerning our
world today. I took global warming. This picture has
a grown up and a baby sea lion.

This sketch was the one that I took for my final layout- a baby polar bear and a lil penguin .

I guess its a lot for one post. I'll post the rest soon, including the final poster of the above. Hope you liked it!

Mumbai Comic-con!- An awesome day!

This post is really, really special for me. I've been following Abhishek Singh's blog for a year and a half and I finally met him at Mumbai Comic-con express. He is as awesome as one could imagine! The best part is that he sketched for me and all of my friends! It was amazing.

Amazing bobble heads at the convention. Couldn't buy one, 2-3 grand for one!
Here are some pictures from the comic convention. I haven't clicked all of them. I took some of them from my friends. Hope you like it and make it a point to be there the next time!

Abhishek talking bout his upcoming graphic novel- Krishna, coming out on 5th December. Pre-order your copy now!

The rapid sketch that Abhishek sir made for me. I actually took a printout of his work for his autograph. He turned it over and sketched this for me instead. I couldn't have asked for more!

We found sponge bob! There was a workshop by Nickelodeon in the afternoon. We had  to leave early so we couldn't attend it.

There's this shop at Churchgate, Mumbai that was also there at comic convention the last time. The only difference this time was that they were letting everyone try their Letraset markers. Hurrey! They are much similar to copics. My first time with these markers and I quite liked them !

I wish I had some photographs of the cos-play. There was this shop with a lot of wigs and fancy costumes. I wanted to paint my friends face but wen didn't have much time for that. You can check out the Mumbai Comic-con website to check out all the awesome cos-play . click here!

Splended Experience- Ink Conference in Marriott Pune

So I happened to be in Marriott for the Ink Conference 2012 (for FREE!). Ink Conference is just like TED Talks, It was Ink which brought TED to India. It was  a splendid experience to be there. Here are some pictures I clicked when I was there. Most of the pictures here are of the art galleries.I feel privileged to be there.  Loved the whole experience!

The first two pictures are of  Noorie Sadarangani.
The ceiling hanging telephone chandelier,
The red hot chair with orange and green and orange old style storage cabinates.

I just love how the purse adds up to the beauty of the whole composition.

The luggage kept near the reception looked beautiful! They themselves looked like an artwork.

'Average Mumbaikar' by Bose Krishnamachari. Tiffin boxes with tiny LCDs inside. The very look of it blew my mind!

The Chandelier in the conference hall and the beautifully planned out lighting- Superb!

Francesca Rosella, designer from Cutecircuit talks about future of fashion and LEDs!
go on this link and find out- http://www.cutecircuit.com/

I actually have no clue about whose artwork this is. I had my Art@INK2012 booklet which had all the names but I managed to loose it! If anyone knows about the artist please let know!

That's it for now. I'll post something new as soon as possible!

Boiled Potatoes - Now in yellow pages!

When you run out of cartage and bond papers, you use whatever you find. That's how yellow map-litho came to play!

I know that I haven't posted anything in a while but trust me, there has been nothing! But what I am gonna post this time is has a story.

So we were asked to make a presentation on a social issue. The topic that my group took was ,'Violence Against Stray Animals'.

I wanted to take a topic like female rights or poverty but I guess I was not supposed to take anything mainstream!

So we started collecting data on this topic. While collecting data I came across this article that read,'Say NO to Kerala'. According to this article Kerala killed around 300 dogs each day for around 6 days! The purpose is to promote tourism. So if you go to Kerala for sightseeing, you will end up having the blood of many innocent stray dogs on your hands.

There was this quote that I really Liked - 'They belong where they were born.'
You can't kill so many innocent animals to fill your pockets. There are laws against killing any stray animal in India. Nevertheless it is one inhuman thing.

After giving presentation on this topic, I just had to sketch some dogs. Here is one of them.

This is it for now but ill keep more coming. Meanwhile if you want to support the dogs of Kerala, here's  a link - http://www.thepetitionsite.com/1/boycott-kerala-tourism-to-save-animal-slaughter/

It is a petition against Kerala Tourism. Just sign the petition if you care for the innocent stray animals. It needs around 100,000 signatures to move to the court. So support the cause.

Insane Ecstacy

Have you ever experienced that moment when you somersault and plunge into the air, do all the fun airborne acrobatics  and stuff? Well, I have(many times). But as a human, we can only feel it and there is no better way to describe it other than bringing it on the paper.

Insane-obscene ecstasy faced by human counterparts.
Here are two of the sketches from the very same.

While making the male one I tried to portray might and power. That can be the possible reason why this one has  bold jagged graphite strokes.

I have used the color green in the blog-spot logo for my blog which is out of the simple reason that I think the color green is the one that really defines my character. I wont really make any effort to explain my point of view on the very same because I think it is more or less better felt than explained to anyone. Other than that, now my blogspot fevicon is also green, hurray!

Women with fantastic fantasy hair!

Well, I've not been sketching much lately due to Arkham City and Assassins Creed :P .
But, at-least I've sketched something that i wanted to from a long time.I've been playing Arkham city for so long and I got too addicted to Catwoman's amazing character design.
That's when i thought of sketching some female figures. Here are two of those .

Yes, of course there is a lil problem with the lighting this time but what surprises me more is that I made such feminine women!

I kinda went through my blog and realized that I am a lil too brief about my descriptions. that's one reason I am gonna write a lil more this time.
My decision of starting off my blog was no more than random. That pretty much explains the random name ,'Boiled Potatoes' (only the sound of it, cause its really isn't!)

Boiled Potatoes is a crisp yet soft, smooth yet steamy  ongoing story about myself  and how I am trying to put forward some part of it on the internet and maybe somewhere in you too.

Hope this becomes a medium for me to reach out to everybody possible.
